Slanging Booze For Life

•August 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Slanging Booze is not as easy as every one would think.

Why capitalize it? I do that because Slanging Booze takes a lot of patience, optimistic outlook and tons of smile. On average I pull about 11 hours of work for 6 days a week.  I am not complaining nor am I showing off in anyway.  It is to show that a lot can happen in half a day.

From depressed to ubberly excited customers, I service my smiles and customer service to everyone (within legal age of course).  I take that back, I do occasionally hand out sweets to customers and treats to dogs.  There has been run-ins with the few who are just having a bad day and happen to take it out on innocent by-standers. Me. Though that does not bring me down because I give those individuals benefit of the doubt. Why not?

From charities to non-profit organizations, my company supports it all.  Not to add, we are church-goers and support any faith that believe in a positive manner.

Where is she going with this?” you might ask your self. I am getting there.

From customers I get many compliments of our service and humble attitude. Can you believe walking into a liquor and be greeted with a great big smile and full of energy? Believe it. I have a disease where I smile a lot and it is contagious. From e-mails, to phone calls and snail mail, I get many advertisements too.  Approximately 3 percent of those advertisements, I get an anonymous angry calls and mail.

Who would be upset at you?” you might wonder.  Easy answer.

Answer:: Those 3 percent of course!  Within those 3 percent are people who truly believe that I am doing the Devil’s work. The work of selling alcohol. The spirit of Sin.

I will get anonymous letters describing how I should be ashamed of myself and I will get reported to the city for delivering alcohol.  If only they put a returning address, I could send them a copy of my cartage license with a message saying:

“I would be happy to deliver you some spirits any time during business hours.“

Today was an exception.  I got a nice pamphlet instead of an angry letter without a returning address, again. Here is the enclosed photo:

I had to laugh and kindly toss it in trash next to morning coffee cup.  Understanding that there will be those who does not agree with the retail industry of spirits. That is ok. I am content with that. I can only hope that they save their effort and money on better things. Feed a less fortunate, donate a bottle of water in this Texas heat or promote outdoor activities to kids who are glued to the television and game units. Be involved in with the community or help those who need a friend.

Aware that there are those who abuse alcohol, I am not the one to be blamed.  Get at those who abuse it and ask them why are they drinking the way they are?  I only sell to sober and of legal-age.  This is a place of business and I would not do anything to jeopardize my business. People are not aware of the penalties that comes with breaking the law. Mostly in the state of Texas.  If you are wondering, here is the link for all your information: TABC . It is not worth it for me to make a fifty dollar sell when I risk a hefty fine, shut-down and community service.

To those of you who truly believe that I am doing the Devil’s work and keep sending me stuff, I will never stop doing what I do and continue to sell spirits to those who wants to celebrate just to celebrate.  We all have reasons to drink, eat and do what we do. At least we do it in moderation and with a smile.

Please note:: If you or someone who might have the slightest thought that you might be drinking/eating and doing what ever you do more than moderation, please seek help.  I had provided information below:

Update 08.16.2010

•August 16, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Half way through my in Viet Nam, I was blessed with traveler’s diarrhea.  It was well deserved knowing all the food stands I was hopping around giving my taste buds multiple orgasm.  With dehydration, dreaded heat and tiredness, I was too exhausted to give any kind of updates on my trip.  I will post remaining highlights later.

Ever since I flew back into the states, I was overwhelmed with work, work and stress upon stress.  On top of this, you can see the stress break out on my face.  One trip to the dermatologist and now I am finally back to normal 4 weeks later.  My work schedule is not but at least I am productive.

For now, my updates are brief through my twitter.

End of August is when my yoga loving, running addict, caffeine sipping, art scribbling and book reading self will be free to be me.

Remember, sunscreen, hydrate and enjoy ATXFashionShow.  Eat everything but in moderation.

Cheers!

Day 15 Dishware, Mountains and Duck Eggs Oh My!

You can find the oddest thing if you just take the time to read. Cinnamon insoles with a graph of reflexology. Different flavored steam buns.

One big marketing gimmick here is free cups, dishes and bowls. From milk, to Knorr seasonings, shampoo to toothpaste.

We went to the mountain to catch some nice breeze since today we have no power at home. One of the rest stops had some cute wild squirrels. THe view of the city was gorgeous. I am so dark that you can only see my smile.

After being in the sun for so long up in the mountains, we stopped at a coffee shop to refresh ourselves with some lemonade yogurt drink.

In the evening we resumed our painting at the bookstore.

One of my many favorite dishes that many can not stand looking at is Vit Long. Vit Long – Fetal Duck Egg. They also serve fetal quail egg boiled in coconut juice. The steps I take to eat this is to suck the juices with a bit of salt and pepper sprinkled in after breaking the top shell. Then spoon out piece, grab the greens and moisten it with lime juice to make the salt and pepper adhere to it. Place it all together and eat it in one spoonful. Yummy!

For desserts, I got green and black bean desserts topped with seaweed. My cup is on the far right. The top your choice of filling with coconut cream and ice.

One thing I do crave is plain steam bun with no fillings. It is a great way to end my evening of just eating around.

Day 1 of My Selfish Trip

•April 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

First day of my vacation. Flying from Austin, Texas to L.A., California to my final destination. Oahu, Hawai’i.

Bucky accompanied my neck and sleep during my long flights. In LAX, heading over to baggage claim, they have a nice backsplash tiled while to amuse you. Well, it amused me. During my 3 hour layover here, I saw a sign that I always tell people. Half Full. :)

Love Candies. Who doesn’t?

Late lunch at California Pizza Kitchen ASAP. It was ok.

After butt numbing experiencing of being on a plane for another 6 hours, I finally made it to Honolulu, Hawai’i. No more Howdy’s here, it’s Aloha time!

First stop before I rest for the night, Zippy’s. Quick asian/hawaiian fast food.

My sister is notorious for forwarding me e-mails that makes me giggle.

I am also a big fan of food therefore anything related to food amuses me.  Some may have already seen this, some may have not. Either way, ENJOY!

Capture Love

•March 4, 2010 • Leave a Comment
With Love being in the air, many couples out there are jumping on the love wagon getting hitched.

With that being said, a lot of couples out there love to have their memories photographed.  By who though?

So many choices.

One group I truly love seeing their work is Table 4 Weddings . They did a great engagement shoot here in Austin, Texas for a nice couple that I enjoyed seeing.

Check them out!

What is Love?

•March 1, 2010 • 1 Comment

One of my friend had e-mailed me this. She had stumbled upon their blog and wanted to share this loving story of two people’s passion for each other. This story touched me and I would love to share it.

You can find more information here http://bolstablog.wordpress.com/2009/04/19/katie/

this is love.

Her name is Katie Kirkpatrick , 21 yrs old.

Next to her is her fiancé, Nick, 23.
This picture was taken prior to their wedding January 11th, 2005.

Katie has terminal cancer and spends hours in chemotherapy.
Here Nick awaits while she finishes one of the sessions.

Even in pain and dealing with her organs shutting down, with the help of morphine, Katie took care of every single part of the wedding planning.

Her dress had to be adjusted several times due to Katie’s constant weight loss.

An expected guest was her oxygen tank. Katie had to use it during the ceremony and reception.

The other couple in this picture is Nick’s parents, very emotional with the wedding and of course to see their son marrying the girl he fell in love with when he was an adolescent.

Katie, in a wheel chair, listening to her husband and friends singing to her.

In the middle of the party, Katie had to rest for a bit to catch her breath.

The pain does not allow her to stand for a long period of time.

Katie died 5 days after her wedding.

To see a fragile woman dress as a bride with a beautiful smile makes you think, happiness is always there within reach, no matter how long it lasts.

Life is short. So love without boundaries. Laugh without control. Live like it’s heaven on earth.
